ACT is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization created in 1996 by leading experts in the fields of cognitive theray. ACT works to support professionals, educate consumers and connect individuals with truly effective care. Cognitive therapy was developed in 1967 by psychiatrist Aaron T. Beck, ACT's Honorary President. Since then, cognitive therapy been proven through more than 400 clinical outcome studies to be highly effective for the treatment of many mental health problems including depression, general anxiety disorders, panic, anger and marital distress.
